Our Philosophy

We live at time when the world community is under extreme stress politically, socially, economically, and environmentally. We believe that one of the root causes of this “stress” is an ever-increasing population competing for limited resources. The industrialized nations, as leaders of the world—and particularly the United States—consume more than their fair share and contribute far more to the destruction of the environment than is just or sustainable.

We must find alternate ways of living that are not based on thoughtless consumption and that embrace a quality of life—that are sustainable and that value each person and protect their right to participate fully in a non-violent and just world.

We recognize the complexity and interconnectedness of the issues facing our global community and believe that effective solutions must address our relationship with the earth and with each other. We must become vigilant stewards of the land and of our democratic societies.

Vision

We seek to leverage the resources of our foundation to create ripples that lead to substantive changes that help make the world a better place to live for all people.
